Success Story: Kathleen (Kathy) D.

This resident arrived at our facility: anxious, unmotivated and with decreased strength. Kathy was worried about getting out of bed for more than an hour and in the hospital was unable to take the step. Kathy required a hoyer lift to get out of her bed. Her first day at Tarpon point, she took two steps in the parallel bars with vigilant daughter cheering her on. Patient required the essential oil: Lavender (her smelling sauce) to perform any tasks secondary to her anxiety. With the encouragement of her therapists Jessica DPT and Corinne OTR, Kathy met her goals with leaps and bounds. She broke all barriers. Kathy ditched her “smelling sauce” to be able to hold on to a walker. Patient was then able to graduate to a cane performing all of her self-tasks independently. She was later able to go home with her family. She is now able to clean the house and play with her grandchildren. She will periodically come to Tarpon for outpatient. Her smile alone speaks her success.
